NW Missouri | Unless you have zoning rules you are pretty much at the mercy of the wind turbine companies. In the county north of me they have gone in and placed the turbines in fields wherever they want, run the field roads wherever they want, tore the gravel and state highway roads up, run collection lines down the public right of way (they are NOT A public utility). One project in that county has no decommissioning plan so at the end of the turbine life the landowner could get stuck with the demolition or pay the property taxes on it. The contract is solely to the benefit of the wind developer.
They use the same playbook everywhere they go to hook people.
To protect both participating and non participating landowners, make sure you have some teeth in a zoning regulation. | |
