There is no such thing as flex, semi-flex, determinate or semi determinate. They ALL flex. The only thing increasing population does is decrease available water and fertility per plant, weaken your stalks, decrease you plant health and increase disease, and make your cost per acre go up.

You want better corn keep the plants alive and well fed, watered, and drained until its black layered. The upper portion of the stalk should be very green when your combining 18-20% corn. That means putting up a pivot, having pattern tile, plenty of fertility, and then fungicides.
