Fungicides have little to no effect on anthracnose. The fungus inoculates the corn plant from wind and rain at a early stage. Variety selection for resistance is important. The fungus over winters in residue but eliminating residue with tillage still will not eliminate the possibility of having infection the next year. I've seen anthracnose in corn following beans and many many years ago we still would have anthracnose in corn even where we fall plowed turning the ground black.
Watch your stalk integrity closely. Walk your fields often, testing the stalks by pushing them towards the next row. If the stalks show weakness get ready to combine asap. Pinching the stalk below the ear also will indicate how strong the stalk is. If it collapses it will not take much of a wind to flatten the corn. Combining down corn from anthracnose sucks. The whole plant cuts off and attempts to feed in building up on snouts and other areas of the corn head. Lots of wear on your corn head and combine.
