Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have been cutting down some GIANT Giant Ragweeds that have appeared above my corn in a few places. Some are so large that I'm using a loper designed for trimming trees to cut them down. Where they are thick, the damage has already been done so its mostly a cosmetic thing but I'm hoping to prevent more seeds from being produced as well.
Yesterday I got thinking about the seed production. I see no visible seed forming yet but is it possible that some seed may still be produced by drawing moisture out of the large stalk allowing the plant to survive long enough to produce seed? If so, would it be beneficial to remove the limbs from these gigantic plants to prevent seed production. I've just been cutting them down and leaving the entire plant intact on the ground. |
