Ontario's West Coast , Huron County | I agree with your thinking . Why are we not going down the path of ear potential from corn rather than currently trying to limit the number to 1 ear per plant ? Same as how is it that for soys one grower will plant at 140,000 and the next one at 200,000 and get the same yield ?
The potential of corn at lower populations may be with cover crops & ground cover where we are not looking for the corn crop to shade the weeds and compete with it self but put all of the plants effort into producing ears .
I am not sure of the or any correct answer other than in the end mother nature rules . |
