Walnut Grove MN USA | Corn needs to be very happy at V5/6 when it sets rows around and like others said genetics plays a role, some just won't put more than 16 around. With very little tip back I would increase population which can bring its own set of problems. Next step after increased populations is narrower row spacing and even higher pops. When I tried increasing pops I ran into issues with lots of ears but they got smaller than I liked, caused issues in the cornhead. So I switched to twin rows and am happy with that. | |
