We have had them the last couple yrs bad, it's always one hybrid that worst but it's also my first planted and usually some of the first planted in the area.
Last yr we though it was they were trying to get to the corn borer, ours is non gmo. The CB isn't bad but the birds are far worse.
Blackbirds + nice cornfield= Grrrrr
