Subject: RE: questions for guys with wind turbine leases

Central Illinois

I didn't read the other replies very closely.

According to yesterday's local paper, a wind farm may be built in my area, possibly even in operation by the end of 2017.

According to the article, the landowner would receive 4% of the gross revenue for each turbine, expected to be $12-15,000 per year for 1/2 acre plus a 15 foot gravel access road.

There is a turbine west of Petersburg, IL.. I don't get by there very often, but the last 2 times the turbine hasn't been turning. I think I would want a "minimum' payment clause just in case of a breakdown or too much "calm" during the month.

There was a thread on wind farms quite a few years ago, but I can't seem to find it. (May have been in the "old" boiler room and no longer have access to it.)

One poster mentioned having the company pay for an insurance policy to cover the removal costs if the company goes broke or the equipment wears out (lifespan of 25 years?).

Good luck.
