Western-Central Lower Michigan | I HAD land in a wind farm lease. It wasnt where I live. Figured all the neighbors are in, so why not. Actually made my mind up to sell that 40 but it wasnt all because of the wind farm.
The company I was dealing with didnt pay a lot to LEASE the acreage. No problem. They did say (if a windfarm were built) the royalties to the landowner were based on windmill(s) footprint on your land. In another area where THIS company has a wind farm, those that have them get a nice check. They signed a confidentiality agreement about specific $$. All they say is they are pleased to have a windmill or two.. The neighbors are not happy because they have to look at them, and get zero $.
The base for the windmill is going to stay there forever. If the windfarm goes away, they would take the windmill, and leave you the cement base.
