SE Iowa | I would encourage people to read the articles on seed, in particular corn. We pretty much are all planting the same genetics with just small differences here and there. For those that put out plots, many of the same hybrids are being tested against each other. This is something I have mentioned before but many believe what they want to. The big companies sell seed stock to a whole lot of smaller independents who will tell you no one else has this hybrid. Do not believe it. I have to hand it to Becks though. At least they tell you up front whose genetics are in the bag and you do not have to compare tags. And no, I do not plant Becks, yet. Same story with beans. Very few genetics, just different maturitys, same cyst package, etc. Everyone has new stuff but same stuff every year unless they refuse to pay the new royalties on RR2, extend, enlist etc. Ask your seed supplier a lot of questions. | |
