East Central Ia | I have one field of really long maturity corn that I didn't get top dressed... It got too big.
I thought I should have enough N and didn't worry much but now I am starting to see some yellowing of the lower leaves.
This field has a rye cover crop planted into bean stubble so it's first year corn. It had manure applied last fall, and 32% after planting.
Should be around 175 units from manure, and 35 units from the 32%.
This is Pioneer 2089 which is a 120RM hybrid, very long for my area.
I was kind of hoping it would be my NCGA entry but it doesn't have any special treatment.
2089 has tremendous flex potential and makes huge kernels.
So far my ear counts have been in the 18x50 range planted 30-34k Vrt. Final stands of 30-32k in 20" rows. These are some awfully high numbers, and I realize if its representative of the field I haven't feed it enough nutrients.
Would it possibly be helpful to spread some urea with a plane on this and see what happens? | |
