Wyoming | The IVT tractors would likely be the bees' knees for haying, but with no dealer support here within 120 miles, there is no way I'd ever, every allow one on the property. There are two things that would prevent me from ever running a 'new' tractor here: 1) the transmission complexity would clearly be beyond local service capabilities, even at the dealers, and 2) the electronics complexity is beyond the service abilities of the dealers, and I don't have all the diagnostic boxes and harnesses. If a tractor would have to go back to the dealer, the cost to get it there is $3/mile and with the closest dealer being 120 miles, and the next dealers being about 180 miles, the costs just to have it appear for 1 hour in their shop gets really high.
So I'll continue to muddle along with 1970's/1980's tractors here, with simple transmissions and simpler electrical systems. |
