The root problem with roll bearings on 72 bale throwers is undersized shaft material in the roll. Eccentric collars load the improperly supported bearing inner race, race and or collar crack, bearing fails.
The early 72's had a small shaft on the rolls (I forget the size). Amazingly, I never had a bearing problem with them (luck?). They now have a larger 1 1/8" shaft and I've replaced several bearings due to broken collars and/or races.
I think it is due to rollers that are not round due to welding or ????? I had to replace one roll on day one with this 5070 due to the fact that the belt was "wandering" back and forth. No amount of adjustment would keep it tracking properly. The replacement roll was better, but it still seems to have more "wander" than I've seen on previous throwers. Perhaps it is the other roller...... |
