Subject: RE: Soil temps

WC Mn/Dakotas
I ended up going with Cropmetrics. They use sentek moisture/temp/salinity probes and Davis weather stations linked by Ag Sense cellular telemetry. I bought 3 - 48" probes that measure every 4 inch intervals. I put one on a good zone and one on a poor zone on the same Soil type of a conventionally tilled field about 200 yards apart. Then I put a 3rd one about a mile away on a poor zone of a field that has had tile for 3 years. I have been pulling a 4 ft Soil core by each probe every 2 weeks and sending to a lab to compare moisture as well as track nutrients and soluble salts
throughout the season. I also added a sensor for in canopy Temps as well. The first 2 months I placed that sensor in the soil at 1", then moved it to the canopy in late June.
