Cut plant off to about 6 inches. I have seen that help. It will shorten the roots.
I mowed some down 2 weeks ago with a bushhog to dang near ground level. Saw them this morning and they are about a foot tall and putting on seed. I'll hit them again tomorrow with the shredder again to beat them back again. They are coming across the turnrow from the neighbors field. My field is clean.
