Mid Michigan | When he disked it he probably brought up enough moisture and had better seed to soil contact and got them out of the ground faster. We had fields around here that guys planted at various depths with no till and tillage and it was all a crapshoot on what came up good and what didn't. Even planting a few days later was making a huge difference. We just plain ran out of moisture to make them come up unless you planted them very deep. Usually that results in them getting cemented in by rain but not this year. If you planted shallow with no till or tillage you might have a very weak stand or no stand. You can see all of it in michigan this year. Guys that planted deep won this year. | |
