Coup may have been rather blunt about what is really a pretty minor thing, and it could very well be time better spent elsewhere.  Maybe it's the "too hot"  statement that irks some of us, though.  It was not all that long ago, within living memory that pulling weeds, cultivating, making hay, threshing, livestock chores, doing laundry, well the list goes on and on.....   Those things simply HAD to be done, regardless of the weather and largely by hand and horse power.
