I can just about get that picture every year regardless of the growing conditions or my final avg. That's what trees do. The corn in the right looks open leafed and of good color albeit short.
I agree with you, there is something about the trees that causes that to happen. Haven't figured it out yet, but it could be the tree roots sucking the moisture out, along with it being warmer in that area due to reflected solar radiation.
