Subject: RE: Anyone grow wheat in Iowa???

Humeston, IA
I have a neighbor family who has grown wheat on a few of their acres every year, more recently due to Prevent Plant last year (and/or closer to the highway where I noticed more). Looked like a very good crop this spring, harvested right before 4th of July and baled the stubble, then planted beans as a DC (pretty rare and risky, as we are too far north usually). I think they use the wheat in their beef rations and the straw for bedding and/or roughage.

I grew some about 10 years ago...trucked it to Trenton, MO as that was my nearest market. This was SRW.
