Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | You get that latest style driver hub with the grease fitting and drill a 1 inch hole in the housing as close to the housing flange as possible in about the 1 o'clock position viewed from the hydro pump side of the housing., You can get close to the position by noting the position of that housing bolt in my picture. You need to pump a lot of grease to fill that hub the first time. You need one guy watching for grease flowing out between the hub/shaft joint, while the other runs the grease pump.
Once that hub is full, you only need a few pumps every 100 hrs. don't pump in too much or it will get on your hyd pump belt. The sharp combine guy at our dealership said that when it comes time to replace the hyd pump belt, there will be a glob of grease hanging on the end of the shaft where the hub bolts on when you slide the hub/pulley off to the hydro pump side so you can install the new belt. He said run something like a screwdriver or lath wrapped with a rag to swab out most of that grease so you do not get it on your new belt.
On either this site or the combine site someone posted that the unload auger with the swing cyl pin removed ,makes a great little swing away hoist to remove and install that heavy hydro pump.
When we changed our pump/drive hub this summer we built a C shaped adapter that would allow that pump to swing under that deck frame angle iron while suspended with a cable hoist from the unload auger. It is a 8 inch high by 12 inch long C with a hole in the bottom leg to attach with a bolt to the lifting point of the pump, and a ring to hook the cable hoist on top.. Worked good to swing the auger and pump out to clear the combine and lower it to the floor. The reverse worked to install the pump and line up the splines.
Oh,one last thing, line the grease fitting up with the hole in the housing, then put a paint mark on the speed reluctor(cog wheel) and housing. You can rotate the reluctor by using a pry bar between the housing belt opening and the reluctor cogs untill the paint marks line up. saves a lot of time when trying to lube that hydro driver hub.
