Subject: RE: Is there money in wheat?

Kingston,Mi
Local price on soft red winter wheat was $3.68 on Wednesday in Snover at ADM. When I find a field of wheat either red or white where they are leaving the straw, I'll post a picture. It sure seems like every acre will be baled, no rain and clean, bright straw and it is being baled in nearly every fashion, small squares, large squares round bales of every size.

A producer near Vassar said their white wheat was averaging 120 plus bushels and occasionally the monitor was over 130 for a distance. They were baling all of their straw in small squares and picking it up with a NH 1049 bale wagon, then restacking with a crew in the early morning in their hay/straw building (it's a German thing, wasted space above where the stack is tipped up :) ). Local Dutch transplant dairyman is hauling 3x3x7 or 8 ft. bales 2 deep in a set of Penta silage wagons, looks like he gets 10 to 12 bales per trailer. They dump them and a telehandler picks them up and stacks them in open sided storage. He will use them in his feed ration.
