Subject: RE: Is there money in wheat?

Ontario
it's a bit of both. some only bale a few fields, some none and some all of it. last year a few guys around here made a deal with a BTO which was that the BTO would plant it for them and would get the straw in return. i saw truck after truck packed with large squares. no idea where they took it but they must have a large buyer somewhere

hard red winter wheat is currently about $5.30(Canadian) and while i really have no idea what it costs to grow if you get 90bu it's right around the same as beans(assuming 40bu @$12)) and i hear this year they are getting around 120bu average and some as high as 150bu. like i said i have no idea what it costs to grow but i've heard it's a good bit cheaper so the profit might actually be higher then beans. selling the straw would just be the icing on the cake.
