Big Springs, Nebraska | If so, can you answer a couple questions? I have wheat at the local elevator and they said just take the "settlement sheet" showing how many bu I have to sell to the FSA office to sign up. I called the FSA office and they are swamped with farmers trying to do the same thing. They made it sound like you have to drive to their office everytime you want to take an ldp (can't just take the bushel total proof to them to keep on file). Is this what you are doing? FSA office is in the next county (55 + mile round trip) but if that's the way it is, that's the way it is!
Also, elevator guy told me to also bring the proof of the bushels that I had forward contracted (for more than the loan rate) because if the market price was below loan rate on the day they cut my check, I could collect an ldp on those bushels as well. That sounded tough to believe...any truth there?
Hoped we would never have to even utter these terms again (I know the FSA gals did too)!
