I was at a meeting a few years ago and I can't recall exactly where it was, could have been one of the topics at the ICM conference in Ames.
Anyway, they showed a chart comparing 2 different years with above normal summer temps, they had daily highs and lows and final corn yield.
The stark difference was, while average daytime temps were very similar, one of the years the average night time temp was much higher and had significant yield reduction.
