How can you "like the genetics" before harvest?


Easy--emergence ratings, appearance, tolerance to weather events, growth rate, disease tolerance.... There is more to a good variety than just what it yields at the end of the year. If I have very high potential genetics but the plant can't withstand a few days of 90*s and falls apart, what good does that do me?
