Depends on how your crops are looking and whether or not you have to decide now. If you think you are going to be below APH, make the agreement that they compensate you for amount of yield that is less than your current APH. If you think your crop has more potential than your APH, use another field that is close of your choosing to establish the base yield and then pay the difference. I would also tell them to use pricing from the time of the damage (since they are almost undoubtedly going to be better than in the fall). Get it in writing and have it signed and dated.

I guess a lot of it depends on your relationship with the co-op as well. Real easy to be a horses @$$ if necessary.
