Subject: RE: EZ Guide 500 & EZ Steer

Madison, Mississippi
When at end of the pass and ready to turn around.....1st disengage auto steer
preferably with a foot switch because you will be steering, throttling, raising/lowering
implements with your hands and your foot will be free just to step on the switch.
This is much easier than the key pad (at least for me)

All of my work and this explanation my 500 works is based on the free WAAS signal.
The 500 can can be unlocked to Omni and rtk so it probably even better on a
better signal

When you disengage auto steer, the foam wheel motor disengages also. (Kind of
like going into neutral) The foam wheel is still pressing on the steering wheel but
manual steering is much easier when autosteer is not engaged, not quite as easy as
if foam wheel was pushed back steering wheel but almost.

Also at disengage, the small green steering wheel icon in bottom left of 500 screen
will switch to yellow.

Next make turn manually. Then as the tractor icon in middle of screen approaches
alignment line for new pass and you are steering, throttling up, and lowering
implements.....step on the foot petal to engage auto steer. Small steering wheel
goes back to back to green and auto steer takes control. Just be sure you are
almost lined up or are approaching pass line at a slight angle as to not
overrun pass line before auto steer can pick up signal.

If you have to maneuver, whether auto steer disengaged or not, just push spring
loaded auto steer motor with foam wheel away from steering wheel into latched
position. Release latch to engage steer motor with foam wheel when ready
for auto steer.

You can use keypad but you really won't use it when working. It is just something else
to plug up, another cable in the way and something else you have to put somewhere.

Foot switch is a big plug with only two pins that plugs into T2 Controller. Foot switch
also has 1/2 to 3/4 second delay. Not immediate engage/disengage. At least mine
does.

Because the 500 can do so much, there are many wiring harnesses configurations.
Layout the 500, T2 Controller, steer motor, foot switch and keypad and anything
you want to use and be sure all components connect.
