This is part of problem of seed cost.

1 Grower premiums too high compared to 25 years ago
2 Seed growers price for seed underpriced too much compared to commodity seed purchaser

BS. Have you ever been a contract seed grower?

1) The premiums are attractive if you achieve good quality and good cleanouts. However, if they were much less it would not be worth segregating bins, cleaning planters, combine, augers, etc. Besides which, I'm paid premium on per-bushel basis so if drought, SDS, or whatever takes half my crop then half of that premium is shot too.
2) My license fee for treated Liberty seed was $59/unit this season. Hardly underpriced compared to what I bought commercial seed for.
