Northcentral Kansas
I am in wheat country. From what I'm told (only 34) wheat fallow was the predominate rotation in this area 50 years ago. Some of the old timers are still doing it. Corn and soybeans were really not grown here until the the last 10-15 years when folks started adopting no-till. Due to the limited rainfall, corn and soybeans cannot be grown constantly here without no-till. I was told that the reason the Dakota's transformed from wheat fallow to raising tremendous corn, sunflower and soybean crops was due to the wide adoption of no-till.
