Would say you got hosed if you paid $75 acre for seed beans. Way things are looking going to lower seed corn cost for 17 to $28.50 acre.
prices here are generally higher due to the dollar and just generally getting bent over the counter for no real reason. $75 was actually a little off, it was $52.5 per bag and i put in roughly 180k per acre so it was actually about $63/acre. that was Dekalb seed and was actually slightly cheaper then the seed i had last year which was just some small local seed company. i really have no idea what corn seed is worth here right now but the last time i heard a few years ago some Pioneer varieties were in the area of $400 per bag which is most likely less now but not even close to $30/acre |
