Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA
Not everyone can buy fertilizer at St Louis prices.

My own experience has unfortunately proven that price of seed and yield ability are not as unrelated as you assert. I'm very open to growing a $30 seed that can hit 250, and as soon as I see one I'll buy a bunch of it.

Do you regularly have 250 bushel yields? On a whole farm or at least field level, not just a monitor spike, and for at least a couple years running, not just that one time. Regularly yielding 250 most places is not as easy or cheap as you make it sound, and if it is there, I need to relocate.
