This is my brothers website, even if you don't buy from him, check it out, its very informative. He has sealed many basements and crawl spaces. The main reason for sealing was for rodents. Spray on foam starting at the floor and about a foot down your wall in your basement and eliminate rodents. Or spray all the way to the dirt in a crawl space. Mice and rats wont chew through it. But everyone has reported warmer floors afer he has sealed things up. Foam insulation is the only way to go for what you are describing.
