My new list:

So add a crystal ball list.
Look into ball to see yields for upcoming year so I know how much to sell ahead at the highest price.

Grow 250 bushel

Don't rent land to farm

Don't grow corn in bad basis areas

Have a positive attitude no matter the outcome of above.

Growing 250 bushel corn in a positive basis area isn't terribly profitable right now ether, because it comes with 250 bushel and high basis expenses.

That said, is it really so bad right now vs the last two years? The cash hasn't exactly been rolling in for a while now. Is everyone just sure that we go way lower from here? If so, why not short it?

The answer is "because nobody is sure." Maybe everyone should just sit back, breathe a little, and work on that last point on the list.
