Eastern Half of Kansas | We have struggled to make quality hay this year, prices are very poor and no demand from what it seems. Got stuck in falling market last fall and winter and carried over good hay, that was dropping in price. We're not bailing out but we're taking stands out that should have come out and not going to leave in as long. The dairy's have no money. One thing I've noticed I have decent demand for cow and utility hay but a lot of that is cause it's at $60 for rounds and $80 for squares. Alfalfa is priced good in comparison to Ddg as protein source, have a guy buying for dairy heifers for that. | |
