for pulling cane wagons. They wouldn't handle the big ones but the harvester operators loved them especially where the cane was due for replanting and a little spotty when the harvester has to speed up and slow down. The harvesters are hydrastat drive and unlike a combine they have no carring capicity so if they're moving they're cutting. The down falls I could see were the hydrastat would be short lived because it's like any other one they're in self-destruct mode on every revolution. The final anwser to that situation was they didn't do as good of a job as the small frame articulators or 8X20 or MX's with powershift because when it got a little slimy they IVT would run out of power and traction and the articulators would just bump up the throtal a little bit an catch a lower gear and keep on going. The small frame articulators have the same engines as the MAGNUM's but a lot more traction in the muck with either 710/70XR38's or 30.5XR32's singles.
I've got the same opinion on them they're great for light and medium work where variable speed is concerened but they're not what you want for heavy applications.
