Northern Illinois | How do growers get mature ears of corn to enter into fairs? Our fair is just after Labor Day. Rule book says corn has to be grown by exhibitor this year. I have tried to get ears to take but I can never get mature ears so they shrink up after being pulled. Do people start them in a greenhouse (or building that acts like a greenhouse) or is there some other trick to get them to mature? | |
