So far I am pleased with the triticale but its too early for me to comment on which (rye vs. triticale) is a better fit for NT organic beans.
I have observed a couple nice attributes of "Fridge" triticale:
much less pollen than rye
stems are larger in diameter than rye
impressive tillering and biomass production. We did not establish a perfect stand of triticale last fall but the plants with more space produced lots of tillers and filled in very well.
I think we may do a comparison of soybeans no-till drilled into Fridge triticale vs. Aroostook cereal rye in 2017.
