| some interesting pics and discussion about organics have been posted recently
thought I would add a few pics to the mix.
pic 1: 2 varieties of soybeans no-till drilled into triticale.
pic 2: another view of the same field. Blue River Hybrids 34A7 beans are a little taller than the BRH39C4 beans. Plots are 15' wide and were drilled with a JD 750. Same varieties planted on 30" rows in tilled soil are about twice as tall but the no-till beans are finally starting to pick up speed.
pic 3: No-till management clearly selects for perennials such as dandelions, sour dock, horsenettle... this has not been a significant problem for us because we rotate tillage
pic 4: soybean variety trial on 30" rows. 34A7 plants are currently the tallest out of 12 varieties. Not all of our 30" beans are this clean.
pic 5: comparison of 3 hybrids planted on 5/23. All 3 hybrids are over 8' tall and just starting to show a tassel.
pic 6: 12 rows of a seed treatment experiment (4 rows w/ a humate product vs. 4 rows w/ a mycorrhiza product vs. 4 rows w/ no treatment control). These 12 rows accidentally got planted at 41k vs 30k for the other 4 reps. Hybrid = Prairie Hybrids 5879
pic 7: 8 rows of purple and gold popcorn on the left
pic 8: third cultivation of pumpkins last Friday. I had been jogging along behind the cultivator :)
All pics except for #8 were taken today.
