Have you talked to the landowner to get their side of this story? Or did you just listen to your friend that is bitter about the loss?

You can believe in all the unwritten laws you want, but all it does is make you a perfect specimen for take over. Tennants have NO rights to land owned by someone else. Before you go off and send hate letters and stuff to the landowner, you best get their side of this. That's certainly one of my biggest pet peeves is stories about landowners, with no voice from the landowner. Contrary to what you may believe, landowners are not second class citizens, nor are they in any sort of obligation to the farmer. Its actually quite the opposite, but thats another story.
