If I am interested in something at the auction lot, I ask the auctioneer before the auction day if there are any known problems with the machine and if it is ok if I run it. Then I test everything that I desire to test without leaving the lot of course. I carry a key for the new style JD's as well as the old ones. And then I really look them over, inside and out.
