| Just heard of a situation that got me thinking about loyalty as a farmer tenant. A Tenant has lost a farm in which they have been farming for many years. It sounds like the new tenant went to the Landowner with a proposal and the landowner accepted without notifying the current tenant and without letting the current tenant a chance to match the offer. I think this is wrong on 2 fronts: 1) I believe in a unwritten law that a landowner has to approach me first and then you can make a offer on a piece of ground. 2) As a Landowner, they should have discussed this with the current tenant and let them match any offer out there. Is this the environment we are in? What happened to the loyalty between a Tenant and Landowner? Just thought would get some opinions on this. | |
