Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80 | I'm not going to say this is your problem, but did you remove the center panel, under steering wheel (with light switch) and clean out dirt and debris by the linkage. I do know that too much debris, holds the linkage from coming all the way back to the "stop" position, on Dad's 1964 JD4020.(edit: with power shift tranny and linkage)
