Glad Valley SD | We have been planting a cover crop blend for fall grazing for several years. Our growing season is short enough with limited moisture that we plant in the spring as a full season crop. This year our primary blend was bmr forage sorghum, bmr sundan grass, forage soybeans, dwarf esexs rape, turnips, radishes, common vetch, and oil sunflowers. I wouldn't be scared of a sorghum or Sudan grass, if you do use one I highly recommend a bmr variety, just beware of the risk and if it looks like you are going to freeze get off of it for a few days. | |
