Nc Ks. | Not many installed here anymore because most was done when cost sharing funds became available. And today with machinery getting bigger and no-till, most are being farmed over and worn down. Plowing used to be the method of maintaining them but nobody plows anymore. However we had two big rain events, one last winter and one earlier this spring that wreaked havoc on things. After years of no use I will be digging the plow out of the weeds to plow up and rebuild several farms. Before anyone complains, soil conservation men from FSA office recommended plowing the terraces on one of my farms a few years ago because they were worn. Between having alfalfa in the rotation for several years and no-till I've been able to postpone that until now. | |
