I too agree with what 84 said. I do both no till and some minimum till. Both have advantages and disadvantages.


I fall worked some

I planted green into a cover on some

I notilled into no cover crop on some

Each system has things I don't like, and has things I do like.

I'm using some of both to benefit from the good points of each, and where one system lacks the other doesn't and i'm gonna try and move my fall tillage around to different fields as i see a benefit of deep chiseling soil here every few years. Too much and the soil washes away. Also I don't have the HP/Time to do everything in a "Normal" fall.
Cover crops are nice to keep soil in place but the planting conditions in the spring into fall worked ground were better.
