Eastern Iowa
I had similar damage here.

Exact same situation as yours, it sounds like. All the corn with the issue was similar (113 day) maturity, all planted within 3 or 4 days of the other varieties of corn with damage, and all suffering from a lack of brace roots in contact with the soil. Earlier maturity corn planted in the same window I checked this afternoon was OK, had good brace roots. Corn of the same variety planted in April had no issues either as brace roots were in place and doing the job. There was some green snap but not as much as one would expect walking up to a patch like this. While the whole farm was leaning a bit this morning, the flat spots are relatively small (1/4 to an acre) and might amount to five or six acres in total.

Just caught a bad storm at the wrong time.

I wonder how much of it will stand back up. Root ball is intact, just sitting saturated in soil with 3 inches of rain applied to it.

Going to be all kinds of fun picking it this fall.

At least there is going to be a crop here in Iowa. Not everyone is going to be so lucky if rain doesn't come there soon.
