You are going to have to keep hounding them to get them to send you functional sensors.
I ordered two to test this year, and I have been disappointed with them. I am now on my 4th set (and one of those does't communicate!)

Its more spendy, but I really like the aquatrac telemetry from AgSense. Couple an Aqua-trac with 4 watermark sensors and a tipping bucket rain gauge and you have a really solid method of determining when to irrigate.
Lots of folks poopoo watermarks, but for the money they are awfully hard to beat. Plus soil tension is way easier to interpret than volumetric water content.

The Cropx concept and pricepoint has the potential to own the Soil moisture sensing market, but until they iron out the kinks in their hardware, they are not ready for mainstream use.
