5# of epsom salt in 5 GPA carrier.

Nothing special about the timing. 
It's tough to get a yield response in grain crops from applying Mg unless the def is extreme.  But as cheap as epsom salt is, if you're making a sprayer pass anyway, it's nice to see dark green crops afterwards.  And the rest of the community thinks you're a good farmer ;-)
