St George IL | I always set the planter wide open on the transmission. No herbicide and even though I didn't think it needed it I had 30 gallons of 28% put on as it was breaking dormancy. No fungicide applied either. Was a fair amount of rust in it also . It's only a 10 acre field but some of my best dirt. Ran the straw through the chopper knives out to spread in case it rained with a 9570 JD . Got 140 bales after raking it back up. Then local straw jockey came in and cut it again and got 400 more. Plan is to fall seed alfalfa right back into it in August so I wanted as little of residue as possible.
