southern MN | I have a vague idea of where old tile go on this farm, the tile guts have found every one and used all but one. It was filling with dirt. Most tile were put in 1940s-1970s here, concrete and some small plastic.
For the 40 acre corn field I pictured a couple days ago they pattern tiled, they used all the old mains from the 1950s, they were rock solid and good.
Only took the 2 of them a forenoon to find the 5 mains crossing the field, one was pretty zig zag, but they know the first tile were put down the lows of the fields, and arial photos from the 1990s are really good at showing the tile, one photo set of southern mn was taken in spring before planting, after snow melt, that one shows a lot really well. Really was hard to follow thrm on foot and keep up as they found the mains, they are good at it.
